ROTARY International (www.rotary.org) is an organization of business and professional men and women united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

The Objectives of Rotary, as provided in the Constitution of RI and of our Club, are:

First:  The development of acquaintance as an opportunity of service.

Second: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

Third: The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian in his personal life, in business and in the life of the community.

Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, good will and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional men and women united in the ideal of service.

Individual Rotarians are members of their respective Rotary Clubs. The Clubs are members of Rotary International (RI), which is the association of all Rotary Clubs throughout the world.

Rotary was established in Chicago in 1905 when Paul Harris and a few friends gathered together to form what was to become the first Rotary Club.

Rotary International has a governing body of 19 Directors, and has officers and various Committees. The RI President for 2015-2016 is K.R. Ravindran, a Rotarian since age of 21, a member of Rotary Club of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
